I am a serious working artist.
I received a degree in Fine Arts from Mills College in California. At that time I also was honored with a Silver Medal for outstanding work from the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences in Great Britain. Over the past 20 plus years I have painted full time and have produced a substantial body of work. The result has been inclusion in galleries in Santa Fe and in Albuquerque. I am also in collections around the United States. It is my intention to continue to extend this intensive period of artistic focus into ever more emotional and professional growth
I cannot imagine a life without the effort to produce work that expresses who I am. My work is always about states of emotional being. I “own” each work because I am “in” each work – they are all self portraits, from muted somber paintings to bright happy ones. Always I seek to reveal a shared human experience and I try to do this using only oil paint on canvas. In recent work, I have begun to explore space so that there has been some change in imagery.
As in all complex endeavors, it comes down to the simplest thing. I am trying to not edit out feelings and trusting more into the embarrassment of riches that resides within. I want the viewer to have something rich as a result.
